Killed by bombing in Britain between 7th Sept 40 and May 41, 43,000 and 1.4 million made homeless.

London: Bombing raids: started 7th Sept 1940, with the exception of one night, raids for 76 consecutive nights. In May 1941 they became less frequent as Hitler focussed on Russia. In September 1940 alone, 5,300 tons of high explosives were dropped in just 24 nights.

Coventry 14th November – 500 planes dropped 450 tons of bombs in one night and nearly 900 incendiary bombs on the city in ten hours of unrelenting bombardment, a tactic later emulated on an even greater scale by the RAF in their attacks on German cities.
